Visit Joensuu: Digital Visibility
Background
The City of Joensuu is actively working on its brand, but this branding effort hasn’t been extended to Google.
The city group includes a large number of different entities and subsidiaries, and while these can be found on Google, their pages are not managed consistently.
In the past 12 months, the Joensuu Technical Department has been searched for 2,880 times, and the Conservatory 7,000 times. However, without a unified strategy, Google doesn’t understand they are linked to the City of Joensuu.
Joensuu’s own web resources do not appear comprehensively in Google.
There are many things people search for about the City of Joensuu, where joensuu.fi or visitjoensuu.fi do not show up well enough.

Objective
To unify Joensuu’s digital footprint, teach Google to “understand” Joensuu better and present the right information for the right search, and improve the visibility of the websites joensuu.fi and visitjoensuu.fi for desired terms in Google.

After a thorough audit, we corrected the site structure and content, properly created Google Business profiles for each entity, and linked them with strategically built keywords and content.
